Walk Around The Moors And Mallyan Spout Waterfall - Goathland To Grosmont

Starting near Goathland this walk is full of variety including the best of Yorkshire from woodland to Moors and Mallyan Spout waterfall. Passing through farmland you approach Grosmont and a steam train station transporting us back to the 1800's.

Foggy and overcast I struggled for a good picture, but the sky did clear eventually. Wet terrain made for rather uncomfortable conditions but this should be a cracking 10.5 mile stroll in dry weather. Wildlife is plentiful and you are never far from the whistle of steam trains or tweet of a bird.

Walk Around Buttermere Including Dodd, Red Pike, High Stile And High Crag

A beautiful walk around Buttermere including Dodd, Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag and three classic Wainwrights. This has to be one of the most picturesque Lake District walks and certainly one of my favourites.

Stunning views of Buttermere and Crummock Water offer a dramatic backdrop from more than 800 meters ascent. The terrain is good overall bar occasional descents on scree. Each peak has its own character and theres a 4th Wainwright opportunity, Haystacks, should time allow. We walked the waters edge to finish passing through Buttermeres little known underground pass.

Walking Blog - Psycho Sheep, Amateur Scrambling and Scafell Pike

Rising from a light sleep at 4.30am is never welcome. Especially after hours drifting in and out of the same panicked dream. Yet my mood seemed optimistic, excited and eager. Today I would climb Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England.

Earmarked for months, this walk formed part one of a double header for the year. Part two comes in August as I attempt Ben Nevis via the North face. My year is packed with many similar hikes around the Moors and Lake District but the two summits of Britain are my highlight.

Best Scafell Pike Walk Via Corridor Route From Seathwaite

A classic walking route in the Lake District this includes a scramble up the Corridor route from Seathwaite, passing crystal clear streams over varied terrain, standing proud at 978 meters Scafell Pike is the highest peak in England.

This walk takes in fantastic views and offers a true Wainwrights classic, rugged terrain makes for tough going and a great challenge. Allow 5-7 hours and prepare a backup plan in wet weather. The adventurous can attempt a scramble to the summit while the more conservative can opt for a steady jaunt up the Corridor route...

Iconic Roseberry Topping And Captain Cooks Monument Walk - Great Ayton

One of my favourite Cleveland Way walks. We start in Great Ayton, enjoy an exhilarating climb up Roseberry Topping and then onto Captain Cook's monument. The views are spectacular, so pick a day with great visibility.

Despite heavy recent rainfall we found the ground forgiving, only through forest tracks had we to endure mud and slippery terrain...of which were few and far between. It took us just shy of 3 hours 15 minutes to complete the 7 miles including a short lunch break. But be sure to allow more time, this is a walk with views and it would be a shame to feel rushed...

Walk Around Garrowby Hill, Kirby Underdale And Thixendale - North Yorkshire

A pleasant walk around some of North Yorkshires finest countryside. This is different to the moors, Lakes and Scotland. We enjoy typical farmland, valleys, trees, wildlife and of course cracking views most the way round reaching York, Malton and beyond. Not the easiest route to navigate but don't worry, I've uploaded one for you to follow.

This walk around Garrowby Hill, Kirby Underdale and Thixendale is about 9 miles long featuring mainly tracks and grass. We were blessed with glorious sunshine and clear skies during Spring...

Walk to Rannerdale Knotts Summit Near Buttermere - Lake District

Even in high winds this was an excellent hike. There are few Lake District walks under 4 miles and featuring a Wainwrights summit. This hike to Rannerdale Knotts near Buttermere could be done by most and even includes a waterfall on the drive home.

Buttermere is a beautiful place and this walk takes in those views from a height. The route is included with a featured video and plenty of GoPro photography. Our hike commenced in April somewhat by fluke. We originally planned an attempt on Skiddaw, but 55mph winds warranted a change of plan.

55mph Winds End Attempt On Skiddaw Via Ullock Pike

With a one week window to make our attempt on Skiddaw, decisions had to be made over which day offered the best forecast. Unfortunately last week showed mainly rain and snow for the Lake District, all bar Monday.

The MET office among others showed poor to good visibility and cloudy but no rain nor snow. Sounds good, all bar the 40mph plus winds and 55mph gusts...pfft whats a little wind anyway, I've experienced 30mph in an exposed area before. Sooo, we made the 3 hour trip filled with enthusiasm and excitement both of which were short lived.
